blush Computer won't boot after Reboot and choosing proper Boot device

I have checked the hard drives cables to make sure they are connected. I have reset the BIOS manually and took out the BIOS battery just to be sure. I checked in BIOS before and after doing that to make sure the drives were detected. I changed which drive would boot first just to be sure they didn't swap places. I took my drives out and put them in another computer to make sure the drives where fine. Guess what? (They are) Any ideas TV land?

Before troubleshooting this there are some question which will put more light on your problem. First is this the same drive which you were using before and there was operating system installed in it. Second due you have faced any virus issue recently which might have corrupted your Windows boot file. Insert Windows bootable disc run a fresh installation. Remember this will wipe out all the data. For backup you can try connecting this hard drive to some other working computer.

I am seventy five percent sure it isn't a virus. But I will try anyways. It was working fine before. I believe it to be a BIOS issues. It is the same drive that I was using before. It is running just fine in the other computer. I have two drives in my computer, both of which I put into the second computer. I'm attempting to reset the BIOS once more before I do a clean sweap.

What hard drives are you using, is it Sata or IDE? If it is ide drive then there might be a jumper setting issue. Make the hard drive with the Operating System as master and the secondry drive as slave. If it is Sata drive then you didnt need to do this. By the way are you saying that your hard drive is not getting detected, then what error message you are getting at startup, can you elaborate?

Both drives in the computer are sata and they are being detected. The error message was select boot drive device press any key. Now the computer won't turn on at all.

If you are using windows xp then try to boot up with the Windows XP CD in the drive, and go to the Recovery Console. At the command prompt, type "Fixboot", then type "Fixmbr", then "Bootcfg /rebuild" all without the quotes. Do you have an external drive connected to your computer? If so make sure that the drive is switched off whenever you start or restart the computer. Change the order of the boot devices in the BIOS so that the external drive is listed after the hard drive, or remove it from the list of bootable devices altogether.

Re: Computer won't boot after Reboot and choosing proper Boot device

All drives are internal and I have Vista. The greatest operating system since the Bush Admin left, even though Bush couldn't ever be upgraded. I would use XP, except my M-Audio device would prove difficult to operate, if at all. I can't even turn the computer on now. This is the last time I ask Dell's tech support for help. "Sir or madam, is your computer plugged in right now? Are you sure you are pressing the on button?" I thought the press button receive bacon button was the on button. You mean it's not. Someone save me, I watch too much internet porn.
