My friend is replacing his motherboard, Need help

Sponsored Links
My friend is replacing his old motherboard. He has some Asus brand. It is working fine, but he wants to upgrade. I am buying up that old board. I also had to suggest him the most appropriate motherboard. By studying different models of motherboards available on the market I am not able to get the full fundamentals, including stability, which remains a major problem. I had never bought a motherboard or even replace it. So it is not easy for me to track the better features and get the most appropriate model for my motherboard. To avoid such disappointments I tried posting this thread so someone can aware me on the current models.

To buy a motherboard you have to first figure out various things. Like chipset, compatibility, brand, features, etc. Mostly the chipset is the important part. This because it helps you to understand the role to interconnect the various components like processor, memory, graphics card, etc via the north-bridge and expansion cards. So compatibility part is also considered here. Leading manufacturers of chipsets is Intel. Have a look on ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 motherboard. Read the specification thoroughly to understand the boards feature. You can simply refer the manual.

Go for ASUSTeK COMPUTER Crosshair. I am using this board. This offers you four DDR3 slots and two PCI-Express x16 CrossFireX compatible slots. You can even configure three PCI-Express and one PCI. Other than this it offers you five SATA II ports and a Gigabit Ethernet controller. The audio on the board is controlled by the X-Fi PCI-Express 1x. The motherboard is rated quiet a good by other sites. It is also well suitable for a gaming system. You can also go for a bit higher model in the same range. Another relevant model for the same is ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2.

In the most recent models I will recommend Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3. Whey trust this board is because the performance of the board is due to good memory timings and settings. This is on a good level of P55 in the upper range, but with minimal lead. It is also well suited for overclocking. The best point of this motherboard is that it is gives you extensive overclocking options and it also has a very good fan controller. But the only negative point of this motherboard is that it does not has a firewire support and E-Sata port. It is quipped with the Intel P55 chipset and has processors support for Lynnfield.

When choosing a motherboard, you must first choose the chipset because it is he who determines the choice of processor and memory. This plays a important role in your system configuration and for future use also. Its role is also critical in the performance, even if you do consider a high range of ram and gpu. The performance gain provided by the best chips which do not exceed a few percent. Two very important points are too often ignored which is the stability and scalability of the system. The chipset plays a very important role regarding the potential of overclocking a PC.
