    Intel e8400 vs Intel q6600

The comparison between a quad and the new 65nm Penryn dual core will seem weird but now this is my doubt. I am looking forward to now make my new PC and wanted your opinion. Above all games, the Internet, office, render .... no video, graphics boost, encryption and so on. I do not overclock (or at least I never did). The Q6600 would be immediately available at a cheap rate of $ 300 approximately for the new E8400, at the shop where you buy, there are estimated times of arrival and price. Any suggestions...

The Intel e8400 processor is good for computing sedentary and nomadic (which was previously codenamed Conroe and Merom, respectively) based on new Intel Core microarchitecture, Intel's new architectural foundation for all its future platforms , intended for servers, desktops and laptops. A single brand for Intel dual heart for micro-computers make it easier for individuals and businesses to choose a smart powerful and energy efficient and developers to develop software written independently of the platforms that will manage them. The Intel Core 2 Duo is characterized by increased performance and power efficiency for mobile applications and is eligible for the first time the current desktop PC performance with reduced consumption.

I think that Intel Q6600 will be a better choice with Asus and 1066 with a nice HD WD Raptor! count me with my setup now so I can not complain. But when I start to load the plug-ins (such as SSL or a pair of AmpliTube, with a little 'Virtual Instrument), begin to complicate the operations, and everything becomes a little' car ... the only solution is to move in Audio. I can tell you that a friend has it the Q6600 setup and working with Cubase 4 and I saw a lot of load plug-in really heavy but the Intel Q6600 runs precisely without any problems

It totally depends on your needs for the best PC quad or Q6600 is the best choice as I said sometimes it is unnecessary, already a dual like the E8400 + which is also enough to cost a little above the quad I think the order of $ 80 max, so if you plan to overclock is already working in default against the 2.4 to 3 GHz Q6600 also has E8400 + Tdp low heat and not a bang, not to mention the considerable benefit of architecture at 45nm then of course it depends on how you intend to keep your PC if you change it frequently now the Q6600 is not worth it!

Well the most sensible solution. Do not change the processor very often (on my pc currently mounted on an Athlon 1100), but I think that however will be seeking a E8400. If and when, a few years, is taking full advantage of the quad to take a cheap quad. or will already be time to change the motherboard and take Nehalem who knows Now I only fight forward. The availability is still low, I hope within a couple of weeks you can order it.

I too am about to do an upgrade from Athlon XP Core architecture and are reading this topic more and more confused. I am torn between the E8400 and the Q6600 ... Taking into account the use of my PC (no games and search for max performance in DivX conversion, programs Graphics / Rendering etc.). What do you recommend. Better than the 3 or 4 Ghz Core.
