ASUS Rampage II Extreme Bios information

My cousin is having the ASUS Rampage II Extreme and he wants to know more about the Bios information. We have tried to check information on Internet but didn't find anything appropriate. So thought that you members would be helpful. Please provide BIOS information of ASUS Rampage II Extreme. More notes about the ASUS Rampage II Extreme would be really helpful because my friend is also thinking of the same board.

Compared to the previous board's BIOS has been expanded and enhanced with some useful functions. Operator presses the Delete key, it also welcomes the Extreme Tweaker menu. Designed Clearly, one immediately recognizes the targeted clock frequency of CPU and memory. Current-voltage and temperature values are shown where appropriate. Two very nice and helpful new features. About the Extreme Tweaker menu is reached via links directly to the CPU and memory configuration. Various options are hidden in the CPU menu. Will, for example, the turbo mode to use the Core i7, you must first enable Intel's SpeedStep technology to visualize the Turbo mode option. The memory settings give very extensive. In addition to the main timings and Command rate can be changed 21 other timings.

In the memory banks are eligible for the triple channel memory interface as six pieces are used. This can add up to 24 GiByte (!) Be equipped Ram (6 x 4 GiByte). Asus recommends it primarily the occupation of the blue slots. The IO-Shield decorate as 6 USB ports to standard 2.0. In addition to a PS2 port for the keyboard there are still a FireWire and an eSATA port on the connection panel. Who is the board installed in a housing via the reset switch may Bios reset. Inside, the user at the lower end of the board for another three USB hubs are available. Asus draws the maximum 12 USB 2.0 ports on the X58/ICH10R-Give spanned to the full. In addition to the USB hub you will find the Dual BIOS (BIOS which is currently active is indicated by a yellow LED). The Red slot provides another connection for a Firewire port.

In the Advanced menu, the on-board devices can be an option off entirely in order to achieve the best Overclocking record. Activated remains an LANPort to forward the results. The Power menu is divided into four sub-menus:
    • The Voltage Monitor provides information on a variety of stresses
    • The temperature monitor provides equivalent functions for temperatures.
    • In Fan speed-monitor let all fan speeds monitored
    • The menu Fanspeed controller houses the sophisticated Q-Fan Fan Controller, the fine levels in the cooling fan keeps.

In the same tools the user will find a handful of useful subroutines. EZFlash2 example, enables the easy flash the BIOS from a USB stick or hard drive. BIOS Flashback allows the back and flash between the two BIOS installed. OC Profile provides the Rampage II Extreme whopping eight memory slots per bios (all in all 16 storage places).

With the Core i7, Intel has introduced several innovations around the infrastructure of the CPU. This leads to forced changes in the CPU. The front side will be replaced by the QPI link (QuickPath Interconnect). This is then produced by the connection between the CPU and North Bridge. The memory controller also wandered into the CPU and here is the area referred Uncore. The base clock is the reference clock for the system. All Core i7 processors have a default of 133 MHz public. the smaller models (920.940), the multiplier is locked, is the overclocking on this BCLK. At reference clock are directly Uncore clock, FSB clock and memory clock. The clock speeds and timings of the memory depends largely on the installed modules. Therefore sticker on the modules observed and memory clock speeds / timings accordingly adjust. DRAM bus-voltage note.

The overclock of QPI links has little power. Therefore we prefer a small part for greater stability to choose. The data for Intel Core i7 blessing to 1.55 volts core voltage from to. For air cooling, certainly in far too much, considering what the temperature is already close to 1.3 volts with plants. Cooling water users should also not create over 1.45 volts. The maximum voltage at 1.89 volts and the data sheet should also be observed in 24/7-operation. The memory voltage should in no case more than 1.65 volts, otherwise memory controller in the CPU can get damage. Although opinions differ here, but time guarantee to 1.65 volt operation without hardware damage.

It soon became clear that air cooling, the temperature fairly quickly under limited. Was able in the end "only" 3800 MHz can be achieved - and has up to 73 ° C. The cores. These settings make but with DDR3-1600 with timings CL 8-8-8-24-1T and 200MHz BCLK due to high raw performance of the Core i7 very good everyday values. To determine the maximum reference clock, the multiplier was lowered to 14x the CPU clock rate be excluded as a limiting factor. It was also moved to the memory: the smallest memory divider and conservative Timing were elected.
