    Dx58so Sound Issue

Well I have the assembled desktop for me, and I purchased the Intel DX58SO desktop motherboard. For the operating system I made the choice for the Windows Vista. Well on the system I decided to go for the dual boot. So I also have the Windows XP as well. All was well with the assembling but when the laptop got started then I cannot hear the sound coming out of it. It tells me that there is no audio output device installed. Can you all please tell me what should I do too get rid of this thing.

Well I think I can suggest you something in this respect. I have already come across such situation. One of my colleagues was suffering with the situation that you described and I had to go personally and tackle the situation. He was using HDMI for the monitor, and the IDT for sound. Also he was having the graphics card installed in his PC. Go in the device manager and see under sound devices what is set to default. In his case I had to disable the HD sound that was coming out of the graphics cards. Please see if this is the situation in your case.

Please make sure that you have all the drivers installed for your system. I am pretty sure that this is nothing but the driver’s issue that is causing you the problem. Please install the drivers for the audio on the system with the CD that you received with the mother board at the time of purchase. I am sure about this. Please see under the Device Manager if you can see any error. If yes then please install the drivers.

I also think that you need to install the drivers for the onboard audio device that you have on the DX58SO. If the drivers CD that came along with the Mother Board do not make any difference then it is advisable that you go to the official website of the Intel and get the latest updated drivers for your board. I am sure that if the CD drivers do not help then the updated drivers will really make the difference. Please try this and let us know if that helped.

Can you first of all please tell us your full system specifications? It seems that you are having a problem with the sound drivers, so have you tried installing the latest updated version of the Realtek AC'97 Audio driver in your pc? You might also have to install Windows XP to service pack 3. Google for Realtek AC'97 Audio driver and download it.

    Re: Dx58so Sound Issue

I would suggest you to go for the clear installation of the Operating System and the Drivers. Please, this is the only way by which you can make sure if the audio device on the board is dead or alive. I hope that the onboard audio device is live or else I think the only way is to get the replacement of the mother board or get the new sound card for the audio to come out. Please see if that can make the difference. Hope that after the clean installation you will get the sound back.
