Mother-Board/Processor/SMPS

I had a Pentium-3 Desktop (purchased in 2001). It was running fine...till I started scanning it with Avast anti-virus. The Pc suddenly went off.

Next time I attempted to start it, thr was no picture, Just one beep sound.

A technician checked it and suggested dat processor, mother-board and SMPS have to be changed.

It has 192 MB RAM and 20 GB Hard-Disk.

Can any-one pls suggest me which processor/Mobo/SMPS wd go with this PC..??

I want the cheapest stuff as I dont want to invest uncessarily on it.

Will new mother-boards support my old hard-disk and RAM..??

I would like to tell you that you will have to upgrade your RAM. As you told that you are having 192 MB (might be 256 MB), which is not enough for operating system to run properly. So I would like to recommend you to go for 1 GB or more than that. Also 20 GB hard disk will not enough to store operating system along with various applications. If you are not installing any major application, then 20 GB will do. But you will have to upgrade your RAM.
