Gaming rig AMD or Intel cpu?

I am using Intel core 2 duo E6750. I mostly play my games at resolution of 1680x1050. And I want to buy a new one. I was thinking to purchase Phenom II x4 955. But one of my friend told me about the other CPUs. If I buy x4 955 which handle CF better? AMD processor are having more feature at lower price. I want to build amazing system mostly to play games and I do not have any idea whether to go for AND or for Intel. Please give suggestion.

Basically it depends on your budget. And asking for suggestion they have their own advantage and disadvantage. If it is in your budget then go for i7 860 and the advantage of this system over athalon2 is marginal. Save money by buying AMD platform and spending money on graphics card is much better idea. And if you really need good gaming system then buy phenom 955. It power consumption is better and reduces voltage. Good overclocking. It will play every game you want to play.

Your system is still good for low and mid tier game and it will not do well with BF:BS2. It is even good for multimedia. There is no doubt that Intel is having much better CPUs, if you have your budget high then I will recommend you to go for it. AMD even offer a good performance upto 50%-70% of the price, if you want AMD then go for AMD atalon x4 620. But I will suggest you to spend some more $$ and go for Phenom x4 955. In multithreaded games it is superior.

I am still using core 2 duo E6600 running at 2.4Ghz with a full 4mb L2 cache and most of the games I play at max resolution. I have GTX260 and 4mb ram. I am using windows 7. I do not want to upgrade my computer right now, so I thought to install windows xp which may fix my problem. I play games at max and it gives me 50% more performance then windows 7.
