Hello friend I am planning to buy a new laptop for very high performance and for multipurpose reason. I want this laptop entertainment, for student research program and for gaming also. Normally I will use my laptop for 3D modeling, Physics research, simulation, Quantum Mechanics Data crunching, Algorithms, and Programming and also audio/video analyzing editing. It’s very hard to explain my all work detail. I don't want any fire wars, but I wanted to do my own investigate. I know my work is very heavy but if someone has any solution then please tell me here with high CPU and GPU performance. I will also use some kind of other software like: ABAQUS ADAMS Software, Adobe Acrobat ANSYS ASPEN HYSYS, C/C++ Carleton Site License Software CES4, Mathematica MATLAB MSC SOFTWARE, STK Tecplot Technical Support, LABVIEW LINUX Loftsman. So please tell me that which CPU (intel i7 920XM (extreme) vs. 720QM vs. i5 520M vs. i5 540M) will be better for me? And also tell me tht which will be better that nvidia Quadro’s or ATI fire pro?

If you are looking for graphics card then my answer is Nividia Quadro is better than CUDA system.
The performance per dollar will always be the one with the fresh CPU structural design and not clean speed as such, as the amplified clock rate is going to defer minor development as compare to superior cache, better SSE support. For AutoCAD and other design program, it is necessary that you buy a high-quality workplace grade graphics card, as they are more GPU needy. But for Matlab and related software, you will get extra performance with additional cores rather than just speed boost. But that will depend on how you optimize your programs. So get the cheapest Quad Core CPU that you can put down your hands on, and get a half polite workplace graphics card.

Replying for your requirement is pretty difficult. And if you really want an additional Graphics Card for Auto cad then you should go for DIY Vidock and also take ATI4870 or connect graphic card then firmware flash them to the Fire series equal workstation graphics card. For example a second hand ATI 4870 can be bought for around 100 USD at somewhere, if you want the fire series equivalent then you have to pay around 1100 USD.

I am using Intel i7 in my dell laptop from few months and its works fine. I will give you suggestion and advice about cheapest i7 Quad Core. Mainly performance get increase are connected to the CPU structural design not just clock development. great brand also has high pricing, but not lot of real speed benefits, as compared to the basic i7 Quad Core. I am talking about getting a desktop graphics card, and flashing into a workstation card. My friend said the ATI 3870 works best with the softmod.

Hello I am also using Intel i7 motherboard without any problem. My laptop works very well for all works including gaming also. It’s not necessary that you use DIV dock all time. You can use W510 the onboard GPU , it will be good for you normal requirement like Auto Cad and all other. And if you very higher performance then you can add Vidock with you CPU system machine. It is voluntary improve path that you can think, it is not an absolute necessity.

1. After reading your all requirement I suggest this solution. In all these board no one has the M17 refresh facility till now. the initial release date I have seen is 2/3 but it has choice for i5 520m, i5 540m, i7 620m, i7 720qm, i7 820qm, and i7 920xm. It only show the opportunity of PM55 chipset, it suites with crossfire ATI 4870s which the HM55 does not support crossfire. Some people think that they will not be able to use the integrated switchable graphics on your PM55 chipset.

1. You are really worried about all these processor. According to price and performance, i5 are more than enough for your all requirement user. The i7 is intended to be squeezed and used...or else it is washed out all that power. All games are really related to GPU bound that is not likely to change. Some games like GTA IV and some other will require powerful CPUs. If your are planning to buy a new laptop for long time then you have to think for i7 mostly for USB 3.0. It will be worth for you. But price will be little bit higher.
