i cant play h264 movies smoothly plz plz plz help.

hi plz anybody help me i cant play h264 video files smoothly.my system cpu usage shoots to 100% despite the fact that my system is not that old.my frnds with much lower system specs then my pc play these files very smooth.here is my system specifications.

PROCESSOR: X86 FAMILY 15 MODEL 2 STEPPING 9 GENUINEINTEL~2591 Mhz
BIOS VERSION: PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES LTD R0108K7,8/13/2003
TOTAL PHYSICAL MEMORY : 1 GB
HDD : 120 GB.

There are lots of the reason which might be causing the system CPU usage 100 percent. First get into the task manager process tab and see which process is having the maximum usage. The CPU usage can be also with virus infected system. As you said that your friends with lower config is running the same smoothly so i will advise run the full system scan with the updated antivirus and check whether the issue got resolved or not. oh sorry i forgot to tell that its the media player which consumes whole cpu usage and i have formatted my whole drive and installed fresh copy of windows but the problem persists so i think virus possibility is ruled out.i even bought a brand new hard drive and installed windows on it but same problem.i know its not the virus its some hardware problem.first i thought my hard disk data transfer rate is low so i bought a new one but same problem. .avi files play very smooth no matter how high bit rate but with h264 (((((((....i dont knw what to do.

For playback of H264 , there are several filters (codecs) and playback software that incorporate their own H.264 decoder are some free and others pay and who do not offer all the same quality, light reading (CPU), acceleration Hardware (DXVA) or not, Nvidia CUDA acceleration or multi - threaded. You need to download Storm Codec 7.01.19.
