is it worth gaming with an AMD Athlon 3000 1.81 ghz processor?

I have an windows xp computer with an athlon 64 3000 1.81 ghz proccesor, 1 gigabyte of ram, and a radion x550 256mb graphics card, is it worth using for gaming? i am wondering if i can get a high frame rate and if it will work without lagging while playing games like cod4

If you are much into the gaming with high definition games like CSS, BLUR etc then AMD Athlon 3000 1.81 ghz processor is not for you. You must upgrade it with some better one. If you can purchase a new one then go for X2 3800+. However if you can't purchase a new one or looking for an alternative then just overclock your current CPU to 2.25GHz. There shouldn't be any risk in achieving this.

CSS is high definition??

and no you cannot play with a athlon 3000. i am also suspicious if you can at all do other day to day work with that.

and athlon 3000 cannot be overclocked to 2.2 without hampering stability.

buy a dual core processor for mediocre gaming or any amd phenom/phenom ii x3 for good level gaming.

however always remember to get atleast a 667MHz ddr2 ram and sata2 hard disk.

do not forget to change your motherboard according to the new CPU socket!!
