Yes there is free software that will allow you to see the makers of the motherboard and controllers. I use it and it works very well. Its called Sandra Lite from SISoftware and will identify many components in your system. Good Luck

I have both Sandra Lite and Everest Home edition on my machine and both are good products. I have found small errors in Everest Home edition at times using Win 7. I use Sandra to set benchmarks and stress tests on ALL of my systems and components. Expertz is right about Everest Ultimate Edition it is a good program. Both are excellent for your needs..I think.
