Which Motherboard to use with Geforce 9500Gt PCI Exp 2.0

To upgrade my system I have two choice here for my friend. He wants to use his same old cpu which is Intel Core CPU. Now he want to add a new graphic card and he preferred to buy Geforce 9500GT. But that card is not going to support this motherbaord. For that I need some suggestion for buying a suitable motherboard for Nvidia GeForce 9500GT graphic card. What you suggest for that. Thanks.

Talking about the GeForce 9500GT Nvidia has changed the PCI Express version to 2.0. The rest was virtually unchanged. The frequencies of the GPU's performance lies between those of the GeForce 8600 GT and 8600 GTS. You can go for any motherboard which can give you support for PCI Express 2.0 which is a higher standard for much better performance. It is a nice GPU for mid range system.

To determine if your PC is equipped for PCI Express x16 download and install GPU-Z. And after that you should see Bus interface on your screen that whether you are on PCI Express x16 or x8 PUFA. Then the difference between PCI 1.0 and PCI 2.0 can be figure out. Usually the main difference is the consumption of power taken on PCI 2.0 which is much better frequency than in PCI 1.0.

You can test the graphic card on your motherboard before buying. Then there is no problem of compatibility between graphics cards and PCI 1.0 PCI 2.0, if your motherboard supports PCI 1.0, so it will also accept PCI 2.0. So it's not your motherboard that needs to adaption the card which works on PCI 2.0 will work with ease there. I am using a lower version of grahpic card on this and the same work well here.

It is correct You can take a PCI Express 2.0 without any doubt. It is compatible with all PCI Express slots. In terms of the 8800 GS I will not advice the same and the performance is much reduced compared to a 8800 GT but it gets very hot. The difference between PCI slots and PCI Exp x16 exp x16 2.0 is only the width of the bandwidth. In short, the graphics card, it is in 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0, who cares, it makes no difference, the slot is just their power increases, but no need to buy new CM to run them, it would be horror.
