Does it worth upgrading GTX 275 or HD 5850

I have a GTX 275 GPU on my system. I had purchased this long before and now some of the games are not working on this. That can be due to the older model. This time after going through lots of specification I found that ATI Radeon 5850 is the best for my system. I just want ask that does it is really worth upgrading my systems GPU from GTX 275 to ATI Radeon HD 5850. Thanks.

I will recommend HD 5850. It is some 20% faster than the older model. The Radeon HD 5850 is a new high-end GPU from AMD. It is e most powerful single GPU solutions market. It is better to go for that. Radeon HD 5850 shares the architecture Cypress and is engraved in 40nm by TSMC and supports DirectX 11. It is a new one so just go for the detailed specification before buying the same.

It is right the Radeon HD 5850 is much nicer than the GTX 275. If that fits your motherboard then it is worth buying. The architecture is the same, but there are is a bit problem in 1440 SP 1600 HD 5870 and textured units ranges from 80 to 72. The memory bus on 256bit but it remains the core frequency and 1024 MB of GDDR5 are lowered around 725/1000 MHz 850/1200 MHz.

Due to its characteristics, the performance of the HD 5850 will obviously be below that of HD 5870. But the surprise comes as the size of PCB and cooling solution are much shorter than on HD 5870. There is a bit different in location of two ports of six-pin PCI Express power. On the HD 5870 they were located on the top of the map, and with the HD 5850 are on the back inside one of two outputs dedicated to ventilation.

If GTX 275 works in your system without issue then I will recommend you to wait for the same. Better go for a full upgrade. You have noticed that today the games are really very advance offering you online gameplay with split screen support. So that needs a higher RAM to work. The working performance also depends on the FSB of the motherboard. The higher the FSB, great is the performance.

Usually upgrading to ATI Radeon 5850 is not bad but choosing a bit more higher version is great. As the is going to have some difference but it is recommended. I overclock my GPU. I am using a ATI Radeon 5850 card and now I am planning to go for ATI Radeon 5870 for the future. For overclocking this card stays stable if there is no driver issue on your system. You can check that by running OCCT.

It is not necessary that you must only go for ATi Radeon 5850. If your hardware is older then a bit older model like Radeon HD 4870 is also worth and it is ble to compete with Nvidia's high end GPU support. I will not say it is higher than GTX 275 but same and a little stronger than it. AMD has increased the GPU frequency of 750 MHz which passes on the Radeon HD 4870 to 850 MHz on the Radeon HD 4890.
