    Help Intel x25m installation

The Intel X25-M was on paper, Intel was in fact able to offer a 80GB model to 500 $ , while maintaining performance maddening at the time with speeds of 250 Mb / s read and , more modestly , 70 MB / s write . Can anybody know the installation process of Intel x25m. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

Intel is a leading manufacturer of hard drives new generation to know the famous SSD (Solid State Drive ) that are storage devices equipped with flash memory instead of magnetic platters and heads read / write performance which , reliability and power consumption greatly improved. Other interests of DSS , we must also note that their performance is not affected by the fragmentation of files in different memory cells which is a big problem with conventional disks.

According to Intel , he would happily as a software bug and not a hardware problem. An update of firmware SSD X18 - M and X25 -M has just recently come into being to correct the problem and prevent the collapse performance over time . This new firmware version number is 045C8820 and comes in the form of an ISO image to burn onto a CD - R disc which just boot the computer to start the update process .

it is strongly recommended to backup the data on the SSD to perform the firmware update . Also, be sure to have recharged the battery if the DSS is installed in a laptop so as not to interrupt the update that would drive down. Finally, it is advisable to disable the AHCI mode for the duration of the update . Here is the list of SSD consistent with this firmware.

In my opinion no need to format it in advance for the time it takes to install the seven and in addition there are the stories of alignments which I understand nothing but make me say it is better to let windows 7 format and create partitions itself. And the firmware version, the 1.3 you and to anticipate your possible questions, I think it is feasible to upgrade to 1.4 before installing , there was no record of returns permanently damaged by the update, just destroyed scores but if you put on anything yet is not very annoying. But hey , there's always a risk, it is not necessarily required to take when a firmware updated and more reliable out probably in a short time.

According to the test site PC Perspective , the X25 - M SSD from Intel would experience significant performance declines after several hours of intensive use. Intel puts into question these conclusions and questioned the methodology. The disks with flash memory SSD (Solid State Drive ) they are more conducive to the fragmentation of files that mechanical models with plates ? This is essentially the question posed by the site PC Perspective after a battery of Tests on three SSD X25 - M 80GB Intel . The results of these tests have led to a dramatic drop in disk performance after a certain time. Consist of several phases of writing and rewriting of files large and small sizes , which added several PC Perspective reinstall Windows (XP SP3 , XP SP2 and Vista x64 SP1 ) on three different PCs , the tests have revealed after a few hours of performance " well below the manufacturer's specifications .
