    Tyan K8WE (S2895)

My motherboard recently got screwed due to power failure. So I went to my local retailer to purchase a new motherboard and he suggested me Tyan K8WE (S2895). He told me that it would be best for me and started explaining features of it. I don't completely trust what he said and so I want some other thoughts. Is there anyone who have used this motherboard and have some experience with it? Will you recommend me this motherboard or not? If no then which should I go for?

Tyan manufacturers provides a good motherboard support whenever and wherever you require it. Tyan K8WE works flawlessly with Window XP, Windows XP x64, and Linux. You will find a lot of USB ports, few firewire ports, 4 SATA headers, slots for up to 16GB of RAM, some expansion ports for ALL types of cards: PCI-X (66/100/133), PCI, PCIe (2 x 16x slots).

But the only problem with this motherboard which is not actually from the manufacturer part is that there is no support for NVidia chipset. Another problem is that Linux drivers are not so worth to use.

I have used this motherboard and to me it always crashes and until now I have not been able to rectify the actual cause of the problem. I recently added a new nvidia graphics card on my computer and since then my system is crashing. I tried various things like updating BIOS, using another graphics card, updating drivers etc but all in vain. I think Nutty is correct, Tyan does not have provide support for nvidia devices.

    Re: Tyan K8WE (S2895)

The best part of Tyan K8WE is that it supports up to 16 GB of DDR400 ECC Ram which is enough for most computer setups. You will also find 24-pin and 8-pin power connector between the CPUs. This prevent airflow over here. There shouldn't be heating issues since the chipsets have large passive heatsinks. You don't require small chipset fans over here.
