Intel is expanding its line of processors for servers by announcing the Intel Xeon 5600 family, the first six hearts to be engraved in 32nm high-k for performance gains while reducing energy consumption. After the family Intel Xeon 5500 unveiled in March 2009 and engraved in 45nm, Intel announced the Intel Xeon line 5600, six hearts and engraved this time in 32 nm.

It is right that communication between virtualized servers, not always easy to monitor remotely, must also be taken into account and material protection is provided at the processor via the Intel TXT. The advantages of burning in 32 nm is that first Intel Xeon 5600 range incorporates technology developed by the U.S. foundry, such as Turbo Boost, Hyper-Threading and Intel VT virtualization. Intel promises a TDP of 130 W peak for its quad-processor Xeon 5600 3.46 GHz, as the version six hearts to 3.33 GHz.

For the other versions like six cores are clocked at 2.93GHz, the TDP passes 95W, and 80W for the quad-standard 2.66 GHz. The low voltage variants have a TDP of between 40 and 60 W. Side-board computers, Intel also announced the Intel Xeon processors E5645 and L5638, solutions to six hearts, and Intel Xeon L5618 and E 5620, four hearts. They are intended for environments with high temperature stress and have support over seven years.

The processor gains performance but also reduce energy consumption over the preceding family while hardening the system prepares to uses of cloud computing, led to strongly develop in the years to come.Security is crucial to the development of these new architectures, Intel provides functions for encrypting databases, or even an entire disk and secure Internet transactions.
