Acer aspire 5520-5912 motherboard dead

hi members,
I am new to this forum, I have an acer aspire 5520-5912 laptop which i bought from an friend from US, 2 years back. Its mother board had gone. It didnt start, i had tried all the stuffs like cleaning RAM slot, HDD slot, fan etc. checked battery etc. But then i gave to service, they found its mother board fault. and i am searching for mother board from all over India (through phone and Net) ,

Nehru Place , Delhi.
Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai , and even acer service, and all other links i have. but they say it is rare to get AMD based Acer boards. mine is AMD turion 64x2 dual core TL-58 processor based NVidia chipset board with integrated graphics.

Even in google, i cannot find an board, but i can see lots of boards for aspire 5520 laptop, which has Athlon 64x2 processor, and the board design is almost visually same. external casing also same.

Can i use this board with turion processor, or should i replace processor to Athlon in case i use 5520 board instead of original 5520-5912 board?

I am fed up with this acer, please help in this regard.

You can use the motherboard if the slot supports the current processor which you are using. If you want to improve the performance of the computer then you can go for the processor change. But the processor change will not improve the performance significantly.

Thanks for reply. I dont need speed much, i just need to make laptop alive. even if i can downgrade processor a bit, i dont mind, since i have to find a suitable board as soon as possible.

Rajeev, where are you based? If its Delhi, can you get in touch with the Acer guys? I'm sure whoever told you that they don't have spares is incorrect. If the Acer guys draw a blank, do post again, and I'll see what best I can be of help to you. Regards.... Duke

Hi duke.

I am from coimbatore. An tech person in acer service, have said that it is out of stock and will intimate my friend, who has my laptop now (i gave to him to repair, since he could not sort it out, he contacted acer service in coimbatore). Its been weeks, still no hope.

Weirdly i contacted Acer america site, since the laptop is bought there. after asking serial numbers and SNID nos, they just said that it is out of warranty and i have to pay them minimum $60 for technical assistance. for 30 minutes. I dont think it worth. Also this is the first time i come across an company that charges for technical assistance for their own product which is out of warranty.

I regret, on choosing acer.

Please try to find an mother board for my laptop which has model no on RAM slot as MBAJ702003.

but i come across other model nos which may or may not compatible , but they are also 5520 boards. which are
MBAJ702001
MBAJ702002
MBAJ702004
MBAK302002
MBAK302003
MBAK302005

But am not sure if this suits, But i am confident MBAJ702003 will be compatible.
