    Core i5 650 or Core i5 750?

Which one from these shall i go for : Core i5 650 or Core i5 750? I am planning to build a new rig. I need help on deciding which one is better and why should i select it? I want a processor to be a beast as only the peripherals isn't enough, the processor needs to be powerful for a machine to be powerful. Please advice.

It has to be i5-750. It has a frequency of 2.66 GHz, Max Turbo Frequency is 3.2 GHz and Intel Smart Cache of 8 MB. There is nothing beating this processor from core i5 family. It also has an instruction set of 64-bit. Also you can have a look at its complete specification at Intel's official website. If you need anymore help, do post again. biggrin:

Yes it has to be Core i5 750. Look at the main specification of Core i5 650 :
Processor Base Frequency : 3.2 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency : 3.46 GHz
Intel Smart Cache : 4 MB
    Instruction Set : 64-bit
Although the frequency of the i5 650 is more it will perform poor as it has a smaller cache memory size. I hope this helps you...

Yes i agree with Krupa. Now Cache makes a lot of difference in processor capabilty as it is the key feature which is responsible for holding data into memory. More the cache, the more the processor will work fast. Have fun!

Processor's cache is really important as mentioned by hardwareman. So it has to be Core i5 750. also if you would like to have a look at complete specification of both Core i5 650 and Core i5 750, you can get it on intel's official website. Here is the link for core i5 650 : http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id...ec-codes=SLBLK. Here is the link for core i5 750 : http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=42915
