ASUS P5KPL AM/PS Fan Issues

I recently installed Asus P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard, processor P4 3.06 with HT , 2 gb ram , nvidia 9500gt 1gb graphic card. Everything works fine, except when i try to shut down the system thru windows everything goes off except for the processor fan and the cabinet fan which keep on running. I have to hold the power button for a complete shutdown. I have checked all the bios settings. All seem to fine.

Check in the task manager to verify the implementation of programs, it should 5% if not running no other program is working. If you are running at 50% or above, then click the tab of the CPU, while the processes in the task manager until you get the programs using the highest utiliazation CPU resources in the top of the list and any final task that should not be hard on the host CPU, the fan should slow or halt soon after. The process name should give you an idea of what the program is, but if not obvious, then run some adaware / spyware removal software most often the cause. Also check if you put it in sleep (or hibernation). Check Start/ ControlPanel/ Power Options/ Advanced.
