    Change DDR RAM compatibility

    Hello everyone,

I have a slightly outdated PC that has two slots of 512Mb DDR memory (1GB) - PC3200 (200 Mhz) , which would replace two or three of 1GB DDR PC3200 (400Mhz)
just wanted to know if its possible ?

Thanks in advance and happy holidays.

    Re: Change DDR RAM compatibility

Some memory controllers provide a dual channel for memory. Put Kingston DDR-400 modules of 1 GB, but only 2 because if you'll add three, not only lose the dual channel motherboard, if not to saturate the memory controller and you'll have enough problems of stability. Note it is recommended that, when using Dual Channel, make use of identical memory sticks in pairs (frequency, capacity, of the same brand if possible) . It is possible to use Dual Channel memory with memory sticks having the following frequencies: DDR1600, 2100, 2700, 3200 and those having a higher frequency.

Your best option pass for leave to you and add THIS but you must consider whether it is worth spending . you will not notice much improvement. To make the dual channel I think you put the two of 512mb in slot 1 and 2 in slot 3 ... wait until you confirm this ...

    Re: Change DDR RAM compatibility

I have another old computer with a Sempron and also faster, a Sempron 3100 + socket 754, and put some time another 1GB module with the computer running Windows Vista 2x1GB and improved the issue but in XP never reached under normal usage of the dual channel to spend or 1GB of RAM ...

In dual channel that gives you less potential is the micro and low speed of RAM, because you put a lot of RAM are not going to get much more performance, the truth ... I would not spend more on it, and if you need more performance I would raise saving, and see if you could upgrade your computer ...

    Greetings.

To enable two channels on this motherboard is required to install the memory modules into the same socket color, After installing memory modules on the last step is to verify if they are really operating under dual channel most boards mode.Currently displays this information on POST, which is the screen that displays after turning on the computer, which displays some information about your system. Look for phrases like "Dual Channel" and "Single Channel.
