New netbook with Pine trail platform

    hi
In the stores people looking for more and more compact mini notebook like Eee PC or an alternative product on display. The Intel Atom CPU then arises as an economical product that can offer an acceptable level performance on products that guarantee a good operational autonomy. Recently i heard about Pine trail platform what it is basically and which netbook going to acquire it ??

Re: New netbook with Pine trail platform

Intel Atom family of CPUs to date have been used in netbook systems the Atom N270 and N280, up to now used in combination with Intel 945GSE, certainly not unprecedented. This component integrates the memory controller and the video subsystem, being coupled to the south bridge ICH7M which is responsible for administering Device I / O and storage.

Intel launched the Atom N270 CPU to the debut of the platform, this solution has a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, FSB running at 533MHz and is constructed with 45nm production process, from the debut has had only a update range achieved with the N280 model, solution with clock frequency equal to 1.66 GHz and 667 MHz FSB: in practical terms and in terms of performance is not fact changed.

the previous solution based on Intel Atom and Intel 945GSE + ICH7M. The first innovation demonstrated is the integration of memory controller within the processor and video subsystem. The management of I / O remains in dedicated load a component called the Intel NM10, a solution that takes the place the coupling between 945GSE north bridge and south bridge ICH7M the previous platform.

On the design OEMs will benefit from a considerable simplification As the PCB must be positioned just 2 chips and not 3 as in the previous version of the platform. The Intel Atom N450 Netbook dedicated to the production process is made 45nm architecture and single core processor with Hyper-Threading and subsequently taking the same technical specifications of the previous Atom family of processors. Operates at a clock frequency of 1.66 GHz and an integrated L2 cache memory 512KBytes. The memory integrated controller is compatible with DDR2 modules operating at a frequency of 667MHz in single channel.

Pine Trail arrive before the end of the first prototype with a chance of appearing in any upcoming Computex.Pine Trail will be composed of two chips: a processor Atom Pineview, and southbridge TigerPoint. It is a chip less than the current platform of Atom Diamondville processor, or a northbridge 945GSE GC, and southbridge ICH7/7M. This reduction is possible by the integration of northbridge (graphics controller and memory controller) within the processor. Already Acer Aspire One 532 Netbook is based on Intel Pine Trail

Besides that, Intel also unveiled the beta version 2.0 of Moblin, an operating system based on open source Linux. Originally designed for MID, this new version targeting it especially Netbooks. Moblin 2.0 beta is optimized for the Atom processors and small screens, designed to offer greater autonomy to these small mobile PCs that will sell like hotcakes.
