The Phenom II X4 is AMD's first 45nm CPU, it is a 758 million transistor CPU compared to the 450 million found on the original Phenom X4 CPUs. One of the latest Core 2 Duo chips developed by Intel is the E8500. The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 is based on the LGA 775 pin configuration and features a 3.16GHz clock speed, 6MB L2 Cache, and a 1333MHz bus speed.

The 3.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU is a dual-core chip based on the 45nm core. The Phenom II X4 940 is AM2+ and does not support DDR3 memory nor will it work on AM3 motherboards. The Phenom II processors are designed to offer the same power requirements as the Phenom with the Phenom II 940 requiring a TDP of 125W.

Phenom IIs are the first AMD CPU core to support DDR3 memory, which replaces the DDR2 memory being used for system memory. The Phenom II X4 940 is clocked at 3.0 gigs, and a bus speed of 3.6 gigs. A new generation of HyperTransport allows for greatly increased bus bandwidth, up to 17.1GB/s of DDR2 memory bandwidth, and up to 16GB/s data bandwidth.

Intel core 2 duo E8500 based on new 45nm fabrication, with larger 6mb cache and good overclocking capability. The Phenom II X4 940 utilizes the AM2+ platform, and will drop right into any AM2+ motherboard, though a BIOS update will likely be needed to fully recognize the processor.

Get the best overall performance with Intel Core2 Duo e8500 processor including up to 6MB of shared L2 cache and up to 1333 MHz Front Side Bus. Due to its 45nm die-shrink, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 processor can be clocked at higher speeds yet maintain the same thermal design power (TDP) as the older 65nm E6000 series of processors. The original Phenom processors quickly ran into performance limitations because of high energy consumption. the fastest Phenom, the X4 9950 Black Edition, it set to operate with a 2.6 GHz clock.

IF u r really lookin for Ultimate config. bro u need more den 30k...and i would say u can get a nice & descent config. with ur budget...
if ur an AMD fan go for AMD Phenom II 955 BLack Edition or 965 BE.. both are 45 nm fabrication
    955 BE clocks @ 3.2 Ghz with 6mb L3 cache with less power consumption and 965 BE clocks @ 3.4 Ghz with same 6mb L3 cache...(if am wright..lol)
if u choose 955 BE den u can even OC @ 3.6 Ghz or if u choose 965 BE dn cn even Clock @ 3.8Ghz or more...BUT @ ur own RISK :-)..... BUT first plizz check ur mobo wethr it supports AM3 processors...!!!
    cheerz..!!!
