Re: Intel p55 vs x58 motherboard

The Intel X58 is the first chipset to offer universal support for multiple graphics cards. In other words, it can handle both ATI Crossfire and Nvidia SLI technologies. The Intel X58 is an Intel chip designed to connect Intel processors with Intel (QPI) interface to peripheral devices. That doesn't mean all X58 motherboards will necessarily support both, but the P6T Deluxe certainly does.

Re: Intel p55 vs x58 motherboard

p55 vs x58 : The Intel Desktop Board DX58SO is designed to support the power of the all new Intel Core i7 processors. The key features of course bringing support to QPI, triple-channel memory and Socket 1366 thus Core i7 processors. The X58 is not a memory controller hub (MCH), because it has no memory interface, so Intel calls it an I/O hub.

Re: Intel p55 vs x58 motherboard

The X58 Express will use the new LGA1366 socket (also known as Socket B). No more memory controller, The new Core i7 and i5 processors are the first Intel processors to integrate both a 16-lane PCI Express 2.0 graphics and a dual-channel memory controller, enabling all input/output and manageability functions to be handled by the single-chip Intel P55 Express. Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) the interconnect between the Core i7 processor and the X58 Express.
