AMD Athlon ii x2 250 cpu problem

    Hello Friends,

I'm having Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H motherboard, along with having a ram of A-data Viesta 800mhz 2x2GB. I have installed Windows Xp along with Windows 7 on my system. I'm running them as my my dual boot system. Recently i had bought a new AMD Athlon ii x2 250 cpu. Now the problem is that if i use AMD Athlon ii x2 250 cpu, it fails to boot Windows on my system. Whereas if i try to use AMD Sempron 64 LE-1200 cpu then it works fine. So, can any one tell me that why i'm having such problem with my AMD Athlon ii x2 250 cpu? Any one has any idea about it? Please provide me the correct solution for the above issue.

    Thanks in advance.

This processor is based off the Callisto core and is rated at 3.1GHz with 2MB of L2 cache and 6MB of shared L3 cache. They are designed from the ground up without L3 cache to reduce manufacturing costs and offer consumers a less expensive alternative to the cache-laden Phenom II brand. This new dual-core processor has a 1MB of L2 cache per core, but has no L3 cache. The Athlon II series will AMD's first processor with hardware C1E (a low-power state). Combined with AMD's 45nm process, these reduced-cache processors will consume considerably less power as well. The Athlon II X2 250 that we're reviewing today, for example, will hit the shelves at 3.0 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, and a TDP of only 65W.

Did you update the Gigabyte mobo bios to at least version F2 prior to installing the 250? Check bios and make sure smart fan is off. Also check and make sure bios has set the right vcore for the CPU. Some boards automatically disable C&Q when the CPU is overclocked. Unfortunately, there is really no work around this if you want an overclocked CPU.

Did you manually set the memory frequency, timings, and voltage in the bios? To test the PSU, just load it down with a game and test the 12+ rail via 4 pin molex via yellow and black wire. Also could be a faulty stick, try one stick at a time (and in different dimms) to try to get it to post. I also recommend that you check with your motherboard manufacturer whether your board can support the latest CPU's or mot.
