    Problem with Q9550 Multiplier

I have a problem with my Intel Quad 9550 processor. I have a UD3P R1.6 MB, a Corsair 620 PS, a Q9550 E0 cpu, 2X2Gig of Mushkin 1066 (599) memory, an XFX GTS 250 (1 Gig) video card, a couple of WD 500 Gig HD's and a couple of DVD burners - one PIDE and the other SATA. By default it should run on a multiplier of 8.5 but for some reason it keeps dropping to a multiplier of 6. I only notice this problem when I ran 3DMarkVantage and expected a higher CPU score. I then ran CPU-Z on my desktop and watched the multiplier changing from 8.5 to 6 and back. Mainly staying on 6. So, can any one tell me that what is the exact problem with my Q9550 multiplier? Any one have any idea about it? Please help me out to get rid of the above issue.

It's the power saving feature. It will jump to 8.5 when being loaded and keep at 6 when idle. I recommend OCCT be set for a custom time frame of 10 minutes to do trial and error testing as it usually will fail within that time frame if it's a seriously unstable system.

Sounds like memory problems on the timings/voltage perhaps. Shouldn't need to over volt the cpu if running stock. There might be an option for you to turn it off in the BIOS if you want to (you'll also have to disable C1E), but then you won't be able to make use of its energy saving feature when you're not using your computer or putting the CPU under full load (it will run at maximum frequency all the time). Also expect your temperatures to increase if you disable it.MB chipset might be picky when trying to run 1333 rated FSB.

It's under cpu settings somewhere. When go ito BIOS, second page, first menu, bottom of the page if i rememebr correctly. The problem can be solved by setting the function "CPU Margin Enhancement" (BIOS->Ai Tweaker-> CPU Margin Enhancement ) from "optimized" to "performance".
