No sata on ASUS A7N8X motherboard

I have one 320GB Western Digital SATA HD in an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard. I connect the data and power cables and jumper the drive to run at 150 MB/s. When I boot the PC with the SATA cable attached to the drive, i can't see no sata been detecting on my a7n8x motherboard. But when When i just unplug the SATA cable, the PC boots normally. Why does it shows no sata in a7n8x motherboard? What i need to get rid of this problem? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

You got native SATA drives or std IDE ? You should definitely figure out what is causing this issue, but one option you have, if all else fails, is to install your OS on a normal IDE HD, and use your SATA drive and a second data drive.

Also make sure that you have the latest Asus drivers install on your system. I had this issue with Maxtor drives with SATA/IDE adapters, switched to Seagate 120 SATA drives, upgraded the BIOS/Driver and all works fine now running RAID.

There are in fact quite a few cases of SATA II drives not working with SATA I controllers. Take it back to where you bought it and get a replacement is my advice. I have an SATA II drive that needed to be flashed to enable SATA II transfer speed, so they must be aware of this.
