    Dead CMOS battery

After a long vacation, I am retrying to turn on my computer but it no longer boots up. I removed the power cord and rebooted but now I didn't get any bios post. I checked the CMOS battery and also tried to reset the CMOS jumper but nothing solved. Could this be due to dead CMOS battery?

This is quite normal for a computer which is running since years. However if this is on a new motherboard, then it is a sign of a defect. What ever may be the case, the only solution is replacing the battery. If you are getting any error messages also then try rebooting the machine and see if the message reappears.

I am unsure if your CMOS battery is actually dead. Your problem doesn't seems to be CMOS related issue. But then also the simplest way to find out if it is then replace the cmos battery. If that works then its great but if it doesn't then you need to contact to your system engineer.

Can you give some more information on your system? I am thinking that it could be because of a bad power supply. I think you may be also getting some kind of posting but you are unable to see it. Also make sure that all cables to the back of the machine are properly connected.
