IDE and RAID mode on ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard

I wanted some information about running sata hard drive in RAID and IDE mode in ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard. I have seen many post regarding the same issue, but still not able to capture the ideas whether this setup will work or not? I have a Windows XP setup with Service pack 3 installed on my machine. Can anyone help me?

The supported ide raid on K8V SE Deluxe motherboard is from the promise controller. Go to this link of the asus website; the driver is approx 2/3 of the way down the page. Promise fastrack driver, you will need to load this driver during the first part of setup when prompted with the F6 prompt.

Did you know that ide and sata hard drives are nothing but two different connection standards. If you have a SATA drive, you do not need to concern yourself with IDE settings except for the CD-Rom/DVD-Rom drives which are still on a majority in the IDE format & vice-versa, if you have an IDE hard drive you do not need to concern yourself with SATA settings. Do you have a RAID capable system with two or more HDDs ? If not, you cannot install a RAID setup.

You will have to buy a pci slot for raid card, cause then the card BIOS allows you to use drives larger than 200gb even if the board bios is not set up, even with Windows XP without SP1 upgrade. Just wondering if it is the same with the built-in Promise RAID controller on this board. I can't see why not, but Promise website provides almost no information.
