4GB in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium

    Hello Folks,

I have A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with paired TWINX2048-3200C2 modules in slots A1+B1.when i installed a couple more identical modules to populate the other 2 slots, the system gave me the "system memory error" and reluctant to even give the graphics card BIOS message. So decided to swap my original 2 sticks with new ones to boot fine. After updating the BIOS to 1009 - still won't start up with all slots populated.attempted populating slots A1+B1+B2 - POST screen reads 1GB installed, BIOS screen says 3GB installed, and Windows says ACPI error and refuses to start.lately i figured out all 3 1024MB module manufacturers on the "DDR400 Qualified Vendors List" are listed as not supporting 4 modules in dual channel mode, and at the end of the same table they ARE listed as supporting it.since the Corsair TWINX2048 memory is because it was on this compatibility table. So,installed 2 lots of paired 2GB Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 modules in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard successfully?.Alternatively, if you have 4GB of memory of another type in the same motherboard, can you reply here please?

    any helps would be brilliant..
    thanks for reading me

My guess is what could it be that the Motherboard is incompatible with the having 4 gigs of ram in? I glanced over the memory compatibility list for the A8N SLI Deluxe, and it does not appear that the CMX1024~3200C2PT is on there. The 512mb version is on there however, so I am assuming it may be able to take the 4 sticks. You probably try set memory to 2T. If that doesn't work, try reduce speed to DDR333, 3-4-4-8, to see if its memory problem.

Since it is not even getting to the POST I can find the board might be in problems, but try to make the memory timings back to Auto, and put the modules with 4GB.It may auto-detect the RAM at DDR400 if there are 2 modules in dual channel, but DDR333 if all 4 slots are in use... I had the memory settings tuned manually to the ratings on the modules (DDR400 2-3-3-6 1T) which works astonishingly for 2x1GB.

Running 4 x low latency modules can be a problem at default spec and speed, try raising the timings and/or raising the chipset voltage. If they weren't already 2.1V spec'd modules I'd suggest bumping memory voltage too but 2.1V is already on the high side conservatively speaking, do so at your own risk.It does because the the chipset on your board can address only 4GB of memory. Since the operating system needs MMIO space, and since there are no higher memory addresses... addresses above 4GB to which the MMIO space can be translated, you can never see 4GB.but apparently the board is picky in the first place, and even more so when you try 4GB.
