AMD xp 2400 CPU Clock Speed & Processor

Hello Everybody,

I have a AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ on my motherboard MS-6382 getting a clock speed of 1.665Ghz. A program called "Sandra" reminds that my motherboard will support a faster CPU.It says it would support 600Mhz up to 1.5GHz Processor".So my question is doesn't the existing 1.665Ghz clock speed already exceed the motherboard specification?

Any thoughts?

I used to have this board and I installed an Athlon XP 2400+ successfully. The bios did not recognize it properly as "unknown cpu 2000 Mhz" was displayed at post. I was unable to update the BIOS as it is an OEM board but it worked fine.

You know what just because it's a model number of 2400+ or 2500+ doesn't mean that's the clock speed. It very clearly detects that on their website so maybe you should have probed that before hand.The 2400+ is supposed to compete to the P4 2.4ghz speed-wise. The 2500+ to the 2.5ghz and etc.The 2500+ runs at 1.8ghz specifically because it runs a different architecture that allows it to run a lower clock speed but with higher mapping features to make more calculations per clock . it's a very useful feature.
