What model computer are you running? The size and speed of the ram depend on the model of the computer or more specifically the motherboard installed in the computer.
You can also try this (http://www.4allmemory.com/) neat little tool to help you figure out what chips you should be installing into your computer.
Since you are using DDR RAM, all DDR RAM will compatible with your mobo. No DDR2 RAM will work on your system. For using DDR2 RAM you have to buy the DDR2 supported mobo.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (3.6GHz, 1.44v) with TR Ultra 120E,
Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 v1.1, 4GB G.Skill PI 1066 5-5-5-15 2.1v ,
Powercolor ATI HD4870X2 2GB, 4x SATA2 500GB Samsung HDD RAID 10,
Creative X-Fi, Dell 2408WFP A01 24" LCD,
Acer P221w 22" LCD,
Corsair HX-1000 Watt PSU,
Vista 64-bit.
DDR PC2-5300 is much more common and should work OK at 5200 speeds. 5300 is faster. However, if you install your motherboard with 5300 speed RAM , it will still run at 5200's speed.
Download this Belarc Advisor software. it should tell you the board speed, and the ram details.
Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, including Microsoft Hotfixes and software serial numbers, and shows the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any Web server.
