Replacing IBM Thinkpad a31 laptop motherboard using same hard drive

I have a IBM Thinkpad a31 laptop. From last few days my motherboard seems to be not working properly. For that i have decided to replace my laptop motherboard. So, can any body tell me that is it possible for me to replace IBM Thinkpad a31 laptop motherboard using same hard drive? Is it possible for me to do so? Kindly let me know your views on the above issue. Any kind of information on the above issue would be appreciated.
