Gemstar guide plus

I recently got an ATI all in wonder 9600 pro. It came with Gemstar guide plus. I find that the computer can't read the disc. Initially, it worked fine and was fun to use as a recording device. It gave me an incorrect list of channels on my system. Can any body tell me that how do i correct my Gemstar guide plus? Kindly provide me the correct solution for the above issue.

I had the same problem on my PC using a ATI Radeon TV card that came with Gemstar's Guide Plus+ program. The GUIDE Plus+ system offers interactive on-screen programme listings that enable users to quickly and easily navigate, sort, select, and schedule television programming for viewing and recording, all with simple remote control commands.My problem was related to the URL within the software that has changed. By going into the windows registry and changing the URL address for: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GEMSTAR\ETV\URL

The GUIDE Plus+ system’s patented technology delivers updated programme listings to users free of charge, regardless of whether they receive their television signal from an over-the-air broadcast or via cable or satellite services. Follow the below steps mention.

1) Re-install it.
2) Select the "GUIDE PLUS+(TM) System Update Wizard" option from the
"start" menu. It won't do anything other than do a "reset" of everything when it checks and says there's no update.
3) Launch it and when it asks to update your listings, say "NO".
4) Select "File", "Download Weekly File"
5) Click on "Change Settings" and "Let me choose channel line-up
again". Make sure it's selected "Cable"
6) Click "Save Settings"
7) Click "Download"

If that doesn't "fix" it, you might just have to do some experimenting with the channel line-ups in zip codes close to yours.
