    Upgrade Macbook's Pro Processor

    hello everyone,

I have a 2.2 processor in my Macbook and want to upgrade to the 2.6 processor. I have heard that the Macbooks' processors are soldered onto the motherboard. I was wondering whether is it possible to upgrade the Macbook's pro processor ?

    Any ideas or suggestions......

The Macbook Pro's processor is soldered-in. Hence, the only way of upgrading the processor is from Apple when you buy it. So, if your thinking you can just upgrade your processor, in any way, when your macbook pro is getting old, then Think Again !!

I don't think it's possible. The Macbook processor is soldered to the logic board. So it's very very difficult to exchange the processor. Practically it's just impossible...

    Re: Upgrade Macbook's Pro Processor

Upgrading, replacing or exchanging processors are possible only with socketed CPUs which are usually on desktop machines. But in laptops, both on PC's(notebook) as well as on Mac's(macbook), they are tight on space inside. Now-a-days, laptops are getting more and more slimmer, that means manufacturers want to assemble the components in the least space as possible, leaving free space as minimum as possible.

If the processors are soldered into the logic board here is a web site that will sell you a logic board. http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1...cat=522&page=1 Its $999 for 2.4ghz upgrade. Good luck
