Hi,
My computer has become slow. I want to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1720's RAM from 2GB to 3 or 4. I saw Kingston ValueRAM and contacted Kingston as to its compatibility with my notebook. Is it worth getting 4GB ?? I have windows vista on my pc??

I don't think you will have 1x1GB module in your machine, it will most probably be 2 x 512MB. A 32-bit OS will only recognize 3.25-3.5gb of it. If you have a 64-bit OS it will recognize the full 4gb. The 4GB RAM limit imposed by 32-bit versions of Windows which means most will find less than 3.5GB of it actually available for use. Dell doesn't give an option for single module.
Possibly the MOBO in your laptop does not support more then 4GB of memory, If a computer has 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) installed, the system memory that is reported in the System Information dialog box in Windows Vista. Since it's Vista I want to put as much memory in as possible so 3gb (if it already has one slot with 1gb) otherwise 2.5 gb.
You can use 200 Pin DDR-2 667MHz (PC2-5400) SODIMM 2 gb, don't know about 4 gb, to check the compactability of ram download this tool. If you require advanced or additional hardware, check Microsoft for details.
