Its not necessary that if you get the green light on the motherboard than the power supply is perfect. The green lights just indicates that you have +5volts to the motherboard. Just try to short the two pins on the motherboard that the power switch hooks to, if the unit fires up, it means that the switch is bad. Well one thing you could do the power supply testing and exclusion should take back to the shop and have them in another computer try. They would charge to do this unless they really mean is, it takes literally 2 minutes.

I think the motherboard is the cause of this problem. Try to test the RAM sticks one by one. If still the machine won't boot up than its definitely the motherboard. If happens often with emachines for the power supply to fail and take the motherboard with it and some cases the cpu also. However, motherboard is a bit more work and will give you a bit of money since you would also have motherboard, nevertheless also test a bit more and can cost you some money.

I think you should try to purchase the correct power supply. you can order your unit online or , you can purchase it, via best by or office depot. Because the correct power supply of emachine needs 2 plugs going to the motherboard one with 20 pins and one with 4 pins. Make sure you have the same.
