Intel Q9650 vs QX9650

Hi,

What is the difference between the QX9650 and the Q9650. I am planning on getting the Q9650 with E0 stepping. The only difference i can come up with is the QX9650 is an extreme edition in the name but performance wise and statistically it's the same. Will some one please enlighten me.

The X version is practically pointless unless you are an extreme overclocker. Extreme editions have unlocked multipliers. You would be better off spending the money on a decent motherboard. why not get a Q9450 and overclock that to like 4GHz instead of buying a QX9650 or Q9650.

if you really want to overclock an Intel quad core, Intel boards are best at it. so unless you MUST have Sli, just get an Intel p45 or x48. dont waste money on buying QX9650. Buy Q9650 which is a locked upward multi version of Qx9650.
