Power supply calculator for my i7

    Hello friends
I'm going for a i7 build.so now decided to plan the requirements using the power supply calculator, and now am with Q9450 as to make the calculations

reached around to 580 watts.since i have an hx620, so not that far away from the maximum value,am afraid it is close ..so here is my doubt do i need to upgrade??
give me some nice suggestions guys...

I guess the Core i7 platform has three DIMMS installed, but the Core 2 has only two in. so this memory module will be adding on the order of 5 - 10 Watts extra which is minimum of extra power consumption.on the other hand the motherboards are completely different, and probably have different voltage regulator layout and design, the core voltage of the 965EE is different to the Q9770.
difference insingled threaded Cinebench on the Q9770 to 4 threaded, and then single threaded on the 965EE to 8 threaded is really unimportant
The 8 threads on the 965EE will be exercising the memory system much more than the 4 threads on the Q9770, it's why both CPU's are being pushed to the max, you can't compare overall system power consumption.

    Hi friend
Better brand always shows optimized performance as in the case of psu also and it is mainly less than 20%.
i think it near consummate around 400 and 600 watts at 100% cpu and gpu load
which depending on your overclock, and of course number of fans...

Re: Power supply calculator for my i7

I was wondering when my best pal told me about i7 and power consumption
i memorize the 920 draws about 250W under load at 3.8.

So with the 4 HDDs and 2x 260s it sounds moving ly close to the hx620's peak value....
i dunno whether this is correct or not..
