    re: Should i choose QX6850 or Q9450?

QX6850 processor is the first Core 2 product to hit 3.0GHz and it is doing it not with two cores (dual 4MB L2 cache).
for the Core micro architecture is a bumped up front side bus which has been taken to 333MHz QDR (Quad Data Rate – 1333MHz)

on the other hand The Q9450 is a socket 775 processor sporting a 1333MHz bus speed there is the additional L2 cache, three megabytes per core versus two per core, a higher bus speed (333MHz vs. 266MHz), higher clock speed of 2.66GHz. The 45nm manufacturing process has reduced the die size, which benefits reduced energy consumption and a lower thermal signature.
so better you go for the previous one with good clocking rate...

    All right,
Intel has reduced the prize of both product to a factor compared to launch.. I guess you may get a QX6850 for $500.00 dollars,
but for a Q9450(X3350) which shows a slump in the clock rate may get you
for $350.00..so if the money is a major issue select the Q9450

Q9450 is developed with 45 nm technology can give you 2.66 GHz clock speed with a bus speed run of 1333 MHz FSB
it's cache is 12 MB L2 cache having 4 cores...with featured with Intel Virtualization Technology,Intel 64,Intel Trusted Execution Technology,Execute Disable Bit
QX6850 is again Quad-Core around Clock speed 3 GHz,Processor LGA775 Socket, featured with Intel 64 Technology , Intel Smart Memory Access , Intel Advanced Smart Cache , Intel Wide Dynamic Execution , Enhanced SpeedStep technology , Execute Disable Bit capability , Intel Virtualization Technology , Intel Advanced Digital Media Boost , Intel Intelligent Power Capability having a bus speed of 1333 MHz ,with L2 cache - 8 MB ( 2 x 4MB (4MB per core pair) ) it's power consumption is around 130 W
