Intel core 2 duo compatibility with Medion 8800

Hi,

I have a Medion 8800 with
Intel Pentium Processor D 830 3.0 GHz
1 gb ram
Ati 4830 graphics card

i want to upgrade my processor so that it can quickly run all programs fast i am also buying 2 gb ram. but i have doubt about the processor. will it support core 2 duo or should i go for dual core ? i will gonna use my pc for video editing and to watch lots of HD movies.

please give some advice on what processor would be better for me.

You have to see if the latest chip will be able to handle the old stuff that you have. as per my knowledge the latest processors wont support , even after a BIOS upgrade. I doubt very much. i think you should change the motherboard also.

Intel Core 2 Duo processor at least a 945 chipset needed. is better than dual core for your requirements. you can do editing and watch HD movies at same time. but there are less chance of whether the Core 2 Duo on your motherboard works or not.

There is no way that Medion 8800 will support core 2 duo. and if you are going for dual core than its a waste of money because it wont be usefull for watching HD movies and video editing ,you should buy an Asus P5K/EPU with core 2 duo.its the best choice for you.
