Kingston HyperX PC2-8500 on Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
Hello everyone,
That I bought this RAM to increase the frequency of the FSB on my motherboard. Already, first, I bought it on with "CL5" and I realize that the timings are 7-7-7-20 at 1066Mhz FSB and 6-6-6-18 at 800Mhz ... Briefly ... I smell the scam ..
My configuration:
- Gigabyte GA-P5-DS4
- Intel Quad core Q6600 (rev. B3) with Ventirad Zalman CNPS9500
- Power supply S12Energy Seasonic 550
- Geforce 8800GTS 320Mb
So this motherboard supports a 1066Mhz FSB so I could, logically and with the certified RAM 8500, spend my FSB to 1066Mhz (533 * 2).
But then, not to exceed 470 MHz for the FSB.
My processor supports coeff 7 * 470 = 3290Mhz.
First, the RAM is recognized PC2-6400, which is normal. I read it then had to go hand latencies but my motherboard does not allow me CL = 7, it stops at 6 ... (I am referring to the first parameter) I updated the BIOS. I tried to 6-7-7-20 by increasing the voltage of 0.2V, but it's not with FSB = 1066Mhz.
So I am forced to stay at 6-6-6-18 and have a FSB 470 * 2 = 940Mhz.
I believe that I have not made the right ram. I have not tried timings of 5-5-5 or 4-4-4 type ...
what do you advise me?
