It seems like we were pretty much spot on in terms of the specs of the new mATX X58 motherboard from MSI,but some new pictures gives a better idea of what you get and it shows off the board in all its retail ready glory.
The new motherboard has a quite nice black and blue color theme, a 'split thermal cooling' system, and comes with support for Core i7 processor, six triple channel-ready DDR3 memory slots, and four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots working in a 16/16/16/4 speed configuration that provide CrossFireX and hardware 2-way, 3-way and Quad SLI. The Eclipse Plus also includes ten SATA 3.0 Gbps and two eSATA ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, a debug LED, Power, Reset, Clear CMOS, OC Dial and Green Power buttons, and is bundled with a PCIe x1 Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio card.
The headers have also been colour coded and we can now see that there are four headers for an additional eight USB 2.0 ports, a header for a second FireWire port, one for what looks like a serial port and finally one for a TPM module. It doesn't seem like MSI have given the board any kind of digital audio output, although one of the 3.5mm jacks might double up as an optical S/PDIF out.
The Eclipse Plus motherboard has now been officially announced by MSI. Seen below, the board houses the X58 and ICH10 silicon pair, plus the practically infamous Nvidia NF200 bridge chip, and has a 6-phase power design backed by Active Phase Switching (APS) technology, and 2nd generation DrMOS.
The Eclipse Plus can be found listed in European stores at prices starting at 359 Euro.
