DDR400 memories running at DDR333

hi,i have Processor : Intel Dual Core ( 2.2 Ghz)
Ram : 1 GB DDR400 Ram
Hard disk : 320 GB HDD
Optical Drive : DVD /RW
Lan Card, 6 USB Port, Slim Cabinet,USB Keyboard & Mouse
Model S1909 Flat Pannel LCD,the problem is according to CPU-Z it's running at DDR333 speeds.it hangs at startup at POST and then runs at the lower DDR333 speed. The motherboard clearly shows DDR400 support. The CPUID program also reports that the memory is running in Dual channel but at lower speed of 166MHz.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

The memory must be running at the same speed as the other module(s) installed. They will all run at the fastest speed the slowest module can run (if that makes sense..)

If you put a DDR266 alongside the DDR333, both would run at DDR266.

What speed does your FSB run at? I assume 166MHz, as you had DDR333 installed first. In that case, unless you're overclocking you won't ever hit DDR400 speeds (200MHz).In general - the FSB must run at a 1:1 ratio with the memory. Intel's can perform better at a ratio of 4:5.

Have you cleared the cmos and set the bios to default?

On my current Motherboard i used to have 4x512 and it would default to DDR333 if set on Auto. I manually set the RAM to DDR400 at 2.5 3-3-7 and had no problems in any applications or games. You mileage may be different but the DDR400 setting cause me no problems at all.
