Core I7 and Gigabyte Motherboard wont boot

    I have now bought following:

    Core I7 920
    Gigabyte EX58-UD4P
    Corsair XMS 3 DDR3 TR3X6G1333C9 G 3x2GB

But when I start the PC it does not boot, and I get high CPU load (red) on the motherboard LED's while Southbridge high voltage LED (red) flashes. Then turn off and turn it on again and off, etc. Have taken out all the hardware except the CPU / CPU cooler, but still same problem. Could it be my power supply, or have I had any defective hardware supplied?

Would appreciate some help soon, so I can return the goods within the return period.

In which socket did you put the rams in, Blue or White socket?
You must put it in the white socket.

Yes, and I have also tried just with 1 stick of RAM in the number 1 slot, even now, without RAM, but it gives the same result.

Then there are a few possibilities. Either PSU, CPU or motherboard are in defect. If you can test with different CPU, you can determine if PSU is problem thing or not.

Will have to ask, have you remembered to install 12V 8 pin connector?
And are you sure your cooler seated correctly?

I also have just put together the same chip and mobo i7 system except i have 6G OCZ 12800 platinum sticks. Also wont post. all mobo lights light up, all fans run but a strobe beep happens after 30 secs or so. my RAM is also installed in the blue bays. Not at home so cant check, would that be it? i have been fishing for receipts. have built plenty but last build was a P3....am a puter porn junkie so i'm not a complete loss.

Yep. Had i READ the manual properly i would have seen it. Instead of seeing what i'm used to seeing. I kinda like being a perpetual newby, nomatter what you think you know, your still a cock. BTW, RAM needs to be installed in the WHITE bays on a gigabyte x58 mobo for those of you just a tad further down the idiot ladder than me. Cheers!
