    AMD 790GX or 790FX?

    hi,
I know the main differences between the boards using GX and FX. However, I still need to know which will be better to get.I've read alot about these chipsets but the only differences I've found are the gx has integrated graphics and is a amped up version of the 780g.and the only real difference between the two is that the FX has 3-4 PCI-E slots, whereas the GX has only two.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

    hi,
790GX are Great for single cards or dual/tri GPU cards and 790FX are Great for multiple discrete cards.

As for Overclocking, both DFI and ASUS offer excellent overclocking boards, but DFI is supposed to have more OC options, such as custom memory dividers.

The 790GX runs at a higher clockspeed than the 780G does—700MHz vs. 500MHz—but that's not the only difference between the two parts. 790GX boards also carry a 128MB DDR3-1333 RAM chip that connects directly to the IGP on a 16-bit bus.

    hi,
if you are only going to run 1 video card i say go with the GX,and you can hybrid crossfire the on board graphics with the 4830.
if you plan on getting more than 1 video card then get the FX board with the 750sb. what CPU are you using? the rest of the system also?

The AMD 790GX Northbridge is similar to the 790FX, but with some noted differences. It features HyperTransport 3.0 (41.6 GB/s of aggregate bandwidth), support for up to DDR2-1066, a single x16 PCIe 2.0 slot (or dual PCIe x8 slots), up to six PCIe x1 slots, a DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort w/ HDCP interface, and a Unified Video Decoder. It supports all AMD AM2/AM2+ processors, from the fastest Phenom X4 down to the entry-level Sempron.
