| Which hard-drive transfer speed is better ?
I want to know which transferring speed for the hard-disk is better - 4200 RPM, 5400 RPM, 7200 RPM ? Also suggest how does each affect the performance of the system ? |

| Re: Which hard-drive transfer speed is better ?
First let's consider : 4200 rpm and 5400 rpm 4200 rpm drivers are older and slower as compared to 5400 rpm. The performance of 5400 rpm is much higher than 4200 rpm. Now consider : 7200 rpm 7200 rpm is a different story. The performance transition of 7200 - 5400 is not as large as 5400 - 4200. The cost of 7200 rpm is very high as compared to 5400 rpm. The best thing you can do if you want the highest possible performance, best price, and alot of storage is pick up a 160gb or higher 5400rpm drive. |

I recommend you go for either 5400rpm or 7200rpm. Ignore 4200rpm, since it is much slower than these two.... Both 5400rpm and 7200rpm have a reasonble speed (7200 faster than 5400 ofcourse...). Also, the hard-disk with 7200rpm will consume more power than 5400rpm one. Hence, I suggest you to go for 5400rpm for now..... effective cost-wise and perfomance-wise |
