    Cmos Dead Error

    Please diagnose my problem:

My computer got freez in windows, completely locked up. i switched off computer directly & rebooted it after a while and bios post was lost or anything, black screen and nothing happens. Then I reset the CMOS jumper and it fixed the problem maybe temperorly, and the date went back to 2002...as in i was an acient but now this same locks up/no bios post routine happens every hour.

    Re: Cmos Dead Error

That does sound like a CMOS problem. Perhaps the board has a jumper setting that clears the CMOS and the factory accidentally left that set? Or maybe a physical button on the system which resets the CMOS is stuck?other than it being reset by a function of the board all I could think of that would account for it losing the time whenever it's unplugged and shut off.

Press DEL key to go in the setup menu. Select the load optimized defaults and press enter. press y to confirm and again press enter. Now go to the very first menu set your time and date press F10 key to save and exit, again press y to confirm following an enter.

Now u can load u must have set the time & date!
