| Difference between 4GB 800mhz and 4GB 1066MHZ
i have Intel P4 3.0ghz,Asus P4P800SE motherboard,Cooler Master CPU Cooler Kingston 512MBx2 (PC3200),ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb,Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2.I'm short on cash and i'm willing to buy 4GB of 1066mhz ram.Would you notice a performance difference between 800mhz memory and 1066mhz (gaming) memory?Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated. |

hi, There really isn't much difference between the two of them, and alot of ram that is 800 can do 1000 or 1066 it just depends on how good the ram actually is. Friend of mine has a pair of 800 ram that will do 1066 without even any extra voltage, but then he also has a pair of 1000 ram that couldn't do 1066 unless you tried to fry the damn thing with voltage. |

hi, It's much easier to tune down a CAS to 3 or 4 than it is to overclock the entire memory bus which may entail further voltage changes to the northbridge or voltage references, as well as Clock Skews to really dial in a completely stable system when attempting for 1,066MHz and above. |

We've grabbed a performance-value motherboard from Gigabyte - the popular EP45-DS3R - and a set of 4GB G.Skill Pi Black memory at 800MHz CAS-4 and dropped in the usual Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 and our standard 64-bit benchmarking set to keep the results as comparable to other recent memory numbers as possible. |
