Need AMD X2 socket 939 for GTA IV

    Here is my config.:
    PSU: Corsair 500W
    Asus A8N E
    ATI Radeon HD 4850
    2GB Ram
    AMD Athlon 64 3700 + (socket 939)

Desiring to update my config cheaper to run GTA IV comfortably, I want to change the processor without changing the motherboard, in other words, change the processor with socket 939.

Where can I still order an Athlon X2 in socket 939?
Will it be possible anyway to run GTA IV in good condition (in detail which settings I should avoid placing near a FPS too low?)

I had played with a 64 X2 4200 (2.2ghz). It goes pretty well but with a motherboard based on socket 939 you can not go above Athlon 64 X2 4800 (2.5 GHz memory ...).

    Honestly, I played with 4600 X2 in 939, but it's fair.
The socket 939 processors are becoming quite rare thus unfortunately their prices tend to rise (a 4800 X2 can cost more than 13000)

I read a test of GTA4 where they test with a 3ghz core i7 to activating 2 and 4 cores, 2 cores with the use amounted to approximately 95% without making any substantive.

So I think it is better that you take a quad and if you can not, a tri-core (like Phenom II X3 710) which has enough margin to avoid being overloaded.
