shutdown problem of computer which is remotely connected

Hello I can not extinguish my other PC remotely (we are connected to the same network). I use the "shutdown-i" in DOS and then I type the IP address was shut down and I an error message when I am doing ok:

"xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx the computer name entered is not valid or stop a distance is not supported by the computer cible.Verify name, then try again, or contact your system administrator .

What should I do. Thank you

You have to activate something on the target PC (I forget the name of the thing, I think power on lan is to turn and I know the contrary, if you can google the same or can expect answer on a forum), requires that drivers and network card support it and you're sure it must be an IP address? Macaddress is a need for this kind of manipulation?

    I met 192.168.x.XX

Otherwise I try to power off the software, but must also start on the PC that has shut down

I think we mostly run the command with an account with admin rights of the target machine.

I use "shutdown -r -f" all the time. R is to restart and F is to force shutdown. Just in case some app is hanging and XP has already shutdown VNC/RDP to the point where you can't "End Task"

    run Task-Manager on remote computer,
there in menu Shutdown you can... well... shutdown

The problem is that you are trying to shutdown the computer with what I guess is the guest account, and I believe it also tries the username and password you're logged on with
    In other words:
If you are trying any of this from a Guest or a Limited user account you will fail.
vis:and it said something to the effect of not enought priveleges. your account is not a member of the administrators group OR You are on an os that is not of the NT FAmily (I think this returns a different error)
